Hello Jaguar Country!
Join us for Raising Resilient Kids, a mental health forum for parents featuring an outstanding panel of experts. The discussion will be framed around the Netflix show Adolescence, but viewing the show is not required to participate. The event will take place in the school library on September 30 from 1700 to 1900.
Sigonella MHS will administer the PSAT to all students in grades 8 through 11 on October 21 during Block 5, which is the first block of the day. A letter to all sponsors regarding the assessment is on its way, along with a form to help students create a College Board account, if they do not have one, so they can access their official results. Check your email for both.
Seniors who did not take the SAT last spring as 11th graders in a DoDEA school are eligible to take the SAT for free on October 21. Our school will receive a list of eligible students and will reach out directly. While this test is not mandatory, we strongly encourage students to take advantage of this no-cost opportunity.
During middle school lunch, our NJROTC 8th grade cadets are providing mentorship and helping ensure students clean up after themselves before leaving the cafeteria. Students in grades 6 through 8 are also being invited to share their ideas as we develop basic lunchtime rules, and we’re excited to hear their input!
October 6 is a teacher professional learning day, where our staff will be diving into curriculum and exploring new teaching strategies to enhance classroom instruction.
Starting Monday, we’re launching a new initiative called Question of the Day (QOD). Each week, teachers will present subject-specific questions in the format of our assessments. This will help students build content knowledge and strengthen their test-taking skills.
Finally, Last Saturday, our campus was full of energy as we hosted competitions on the courts and field. Our Jaguars made us proud by playing hard and welcoming teams from Rota and AOSR. This week, our volleyball, tennis, cross country, and football teams are on the road competing at Rota, MMI, Vicenza, and AF North. Go Jaguars!

🚶♂️📈 Motion Plots in Action! 🚶♀️📊 Physics students explored motion today using motion detectors and Vernier LabQuests to recreate real-time graphs of different types of movement: resting, accelerating in a positive direction, constant speed in a negative direction, and constant speed in a positive direction. The challenge? Re-creating the graphs with classmates—without bumping into other groups! Lots of fun (and laughter) as science met motion.
